I agree with that!
Just two days ago I was talking with a friend about learning to give tours and we realised that a gentle "we're here to learn" works well on him because it creates an ambiance of "mistakes don't matter", while for me I feel a bit like a child and don't thrive in it, although it's ok. But the thing that motivates me the most and pushes anxiety on the side is "I don't believe you can do it", because it gives me a goal, while it pressures him too much and he underperforms. (still, on the long run I'd rather have an alternance with gentleness too)
