Yeah, as a kid I'd definitely think I'd of had the better side of that deal. I loved to read and it was not strange for me to read 5-10 books a week. As an adult and having most people I meet or are friends with tell me they struggle to read books, don't at all, or hate reading, I can only think they're missing out on so much.

A coworker of mine described this sort of thing as, “the house always wins.” Yeah, $120 can’t buy the value of the kid reading that much. Win.

Do they test him on details on the book to make sure he really read it. No need if he reads it out loud to the family. The kid would be ripping off the dad if all he does is flip the pages of a book for a few hours and then gets a dollar.
