It's not lazy. Learning to identify necessary and unnecessary information is an extremely valuable skill. If you over analyze every detail you miss the forest because of the trees.

Exactly! The number is arbitrary and has no point of reference. Skipping it is actually efficient

I read it because it was long but not too long which made me think there was going to be some significance to it. I probably wouldn't have read it if it were one digit longer. I think I was expecting a phone number
