"knowingly choose wrong"

This makes the large assumption that those knowingly choosing wrong (i.e. unethical or immoral choices) actually care about those choices. A good person who chooses to do the wrong thing may experience guilt over it. A bad person could probably care less and be completely happy with their choices.

It's my experience that most "evil" people rationalize it so they don't think they are doing anything wrong or "no one is getting hurt" or it's okay b/c this or that. I've known quite a few criminals in my time and very very few thought what they did was immoral.

wrong can be a matter of view and/circumstances
