At work there's a calculation that's needed to be done every hour. The answer is always 31 or less. Everyone of my coworkers uses it regardless of how simple the math is. It's terrifying.

I’m a math major and I use a calculator for the simple problems. It’s a law that the simple math problems make you doubt your math skills.

Really? Hmm, I find not solving them mentally on a consistent basis makes my confidence wane.

I have an overwhelming need to check my work and a tendency to think things are more complicated than they are. Math gets to the point that you get suspicious of it if it’s too easy.

You're probably right. Math isn't something I concern myself with highly but I have that tendency towards other areas of my work.
