Playing a game where the mythology literally involves a race being kidnapped, enslaved, brainwashed, tortured, and corrupted until they become a new race of their own
.
And then complaining that there's slavery
.
.
I am convinced these people have no ability to enjoy anything in life. Their entire existences hinge on destroying things in exchange for a sense of false validation
Okay so I read the whole article because I was really curious and most of it is actually praising the game for having such well fleshed out Orcs that you kinda feel bad for dominating or humiliating/breaking them. Which, yeah, the game really went far to give all the Orcs distinct personalities, but also if you've played the whole thing you'll know that doing a lesser evil to fight the much bigger evil is sorta the point. You're not supposed to feel like a hero, but as a person making a tough choice to fight a bigger threat.
The last two short paragraphs are the author's incoherent babbling about this actually being a dystopic sci-fi scenario about us treating robots/AI badly – my guess is that it's just there to justify the existence of the article which is 90% describing the romp the author had with one Orc who always came back from the dead.
In short, the article is incoherent gibberish half praising the game and trying to be relevant in *some* way... so not unexpected from Vice.
