Idk idc about the politics part of it, I just liked the concept of dragons needing gold for their eggs and becoming bankers

Baby dragons teethe relentlessly, very painful. So mothers give soft gold for them to chew upon. Added benefit is the antibacterial properties and the elements mixed in gold like osmium and iridium contribute to fledgling's nervous system development.
