I'm not sure this is a "thing" outside anti-social media. People are different and have different priorities and budgets. Mostly and widely people don't care too much about other people's consumer choices. That's what avatars do on the net and simps irl.

I hate my phone. It makes this noise when I gotta do stuff or when people wanna talk... and then the scam calls... bitches, I'm trying to snooze.
