Lol. I could cheekily say that education tends to lead to a left wing outlook but survival situations and money tend to lead people toward right wing outlooks.
I suppose neither is universal fact, but we can see that people on the whole tend to become more conservative- at least financially, as they accumulate wealth and possessions- at least until a point where they have far more than they could ever use.
Where life and death seem on the line or conditions are particularly harsh we see a tendency for people to become less concerned with principles and more concerned with the practical necessities or what benefits them as an individual. Even where we see communal reliance as a form of survival this is historically based on each individuals desire to survive and lean towards conservative or less progressive thinking as when survival is the goal what is known to work is generally favored over what differs from the known and cautious.
In that sense the two can be seen as complimentary- it is generally true that advancement comes from risk. Simply: great results require great risks; fortune favors the bold and all that. The first humans to attempt t domesticate animals or cultivate plants took risks as did those who set out from known lands to the unknown hoping for better. Many died but survivors often ultimately thrived. So the bold courage and curiosity of liberal thought tends to match up well to a spirit of higher learning, pushing boundaries and trying to find “better” while rejecting the established “good enough.” The conservative or right leaning philosophy that centers on ideas of tradition and order is perhaps what keeps the dreamers and bold explorers alive long enough to be able to reach further and eventually bring the right kicking and screaming into the brighter future. Todays liberal is tomorrows conservative as society changes.
