Yeah. I mean- a lot of “alternate medicine” works, or provides some relief, or at least doesn’t hurt anything to do along with more scientific medical treatments as long as your physician is aware. A lot of modern medicine is based in “holistic” techniques developed through observation etc, and many compounds Are just more potent, purified, or modified synthetics or versions of what we can find in nature. That said- if rubbing tea tree oil on your taint cured cancer or whatever- why have humans had disease and illness across all of history and all cultures that scientific medicine can treat reliably if all you had to do was juice some trees and be cured? “Big pharma” didn’t exist thousands of years ago and even “god rulers” who were the often richest most powerful people had a tendency to die at like 30 from things we can treat with one course of pills.

So I mean- chicken soup doesn’t help get you better in more than it provides nutrition and can be easy to eat/digest while being warm and possibly having some related comfort- but I don’t begrudge people their chicken soup or rubbing mint on them or whatever it it is helping them get through being sick while they maintain a proper recovery, but when people try to pedal “miracle cures” from some ancient time or far off place and either prey on the hopes of others or perpetuate dangerous ignorance… that rubs me poorly. In a social setting it often isn’t practical or productive to enter such a debate and one may end up sitting there awkwardly nodding while thinking about how to get away from the crazy person or escape the topic before they can’t help but say something that might end up going poorly lol.
