Certainly. Plato has endured for quite some time, and I’m perhaps not on equal footing to dispute him, so I’m going to say there is truth to this. Genius often seems like madness to those who don’t have the sight to understand it. This is true. But does that mean that every person you meet who seems crazy is in fact a genius you should listen to? No. Often, madness is just madness, and no genius is involved. Often, when someone sees something no one else can, it’s just their eyes playing tricks on them or a psychological issue. Never forget all the “truth seers” who have detail based “proof” of how Dungeons and Dragons is a satanic recruitment conspiracy, or that lizard people secretly run the world, or Covid 19 was a US government hoax etc. That’s the thing about the human mind- if it gazed into the shadows hard enough, it will start to invent things to see. The power of imagination is an amazing thing.
