Unless there's an exact looking different species of this tree, this is a lie. The spikes don't have poison and the fruit does not "explode" per say.

So from what I saw, the sandbox tree is nicknamed this dynamite tree. The pumpkin looking fruit can explode and fling seeds anywhere from 150 to 300 ft away, averaging about 100 feet. There have been tribes that use the sap from spikes to make poisons, and some fishermen use the sap to poison fish. Quite a few articles out there that say this post is true.
