I mean- it sounds really odd when we say it like that but like- lots of women enjoy going to sports games like Rugby or American Football and watching humans brutalize each other for the entertainment of spectators and absolutely no actual point beyond perhaps noble ideas of struggle, heritage, and victory or economics and exploitation. While modern sports are generally tame compared to death fights and slaughters- modern life is generally much more tame than life was then. There is some level of brutality and suffering we accept as the baseline of the world every day we wake up in this world- so it stands to reason that the more brutal the word one lives in, the more brutality one likely considers just part of daily life. We are “enlightened” or “soft” depending on your stance compared to our ancient ancestors socially. So a society soft or enlightened to us would likely feel similar about our “more tame” brutality in entertainment. To them it would still be extreme no?
