lower hunter turn out is going to start becoming a problem in many areas. The wildlife department uses hunting as population control, ecological control. If an animal's population gets too dense it starts running the risk of extinction. In the case of deer like the meme shows there's diseases like blue tongue that can absolutely fuck up deer populations, but only if their population is dense enough that its spreading fast enough to out-spread its lethality. Even right now in man areas the amount of deer killed isn't enough to keep the population from growing too quickly.
I’m not here to give my .02 on hunting- some people literally need to hunt. What I will say is this- all the reasons listed there apply to humans too. We just had a major pandemic that disproportionately effected population dense areas- not our first. I’m not advocating against hunting when I say it and I’m not advocating for human population control- I am posing the question that if those same things apply to humans, why do we hunt deer as a “public service” but there isn’t a season where bagging the guy with the priciest watch or whatever are the bragging rights for the year? On the subject of morality, it’s hard to make an argument contrary the latter practice which doesn’t revolve around some moral or values statement on human life, and any argument about the sanctity of life which would apply to one would apply to the other near as I can see so long as we keep it secular.
My area has unbelievable development A 100 acre farm field being sold when the old man farmer dies. Bought by a developer and puts up hundreds of homes. Same with wooded lots. Tear it all down and put up a parking lot. The animals have no where to go. Oh see a fox or a raccoon mid day .. it has rabies! No it's home is gone forever.
Kidding……I’m a hunter, I do my part
