Lol. Me too. Even if logically it’s flawed since intentionally and pointlessly obstructing women could still be an example of patriarchy as denying or obstructing agency to women is a from by which patriarchy is often expressed. Of course there is overlap that to misogyny and one could also argue that letting a door slam on a woman etc. could be misogynist or otherwise picked at if someone wanted to do so. If you look for things to pick at you’ll find them for sure. But I mean… firstly, it’s actually arguably sexist to say it is patriarchal for a man to hold the door open even if he specifically did it because he’s “signaling he’s controlling your ability to enter or leave..” because if he does that to men too it wouldn’t be gender based and would simply be an expression of social dominance- patriarchy is a specific expression of dominance that asserts men should be dominant to women. we could pick at other gender based criticisms of the practice and point out where those fail too.
