What’s funny about the whole “attack on traditional family” or what not is- no one but the most radical extremists are saying anyone needs to give up a “traditional family” so much as people are saying they want the same right to live and have their lives reflected and considered valid in society too.
It’s a wee bit like saying that the existence of Pepsi is an attack on Coke- but neither company cares if you use the other ones products- they care about their sales being strong not their competitors being weak. I mean- when someone stole the recipe for Coke and tried to sell it to Pepsi- Pepsi reported it and worked with Coke and the feds to arrest the person and protect their competitors secret.
I guess the “attack on ‘Christian’ values” CAN be true- if you’re someone who defines ‘Christian’ values as hate or exclusion. If you want to be able to excommunicate people there are other faiths that do that, but Jesus didn’t ever really preach to help or be kind to only their people who exemplified his or your own ideas on what was “good standing” in the faith- so yeah. I guess if someone wants to stamp their feet and moan that they are losing the “freedom” to be bigoted or to subjugate others then they have a point even if that point is on top of their head.
I mean- the USA is pretty clear on how it stands on those matters. The tale of the American revolution (true or not) is standing up to oppression, and we did have a teeny bit of civil war when a bunch of people wanted to keep their right to subjugate others. So it’s like… maybe there’s some teachable moments in there?
