i don’t know about the UK, but here in the US it’s slapped on everything for the whole month, for better or worse. remembering won’t be a problem.

It certainly is. Of course, commodifying a message doesn't automatically weaken it. If anything one could argue that it helps spread it even further.
If you're referring to the businesses being disingenuous, I would agree. However, that's hardly news. It's the same during Pride Month, isn't it.
