A lot more people died in famines under communist state controlled economies like the famines in China, North Korea (DPRK), and the USSR (Soviet Russia).
So like… maybe the same blade that collects the harvest can also be turned on the people? A system is a tool, the person using the tool controls how it is used, and it doesn’t matter if a farmer uses a sickle or a scythe if they kill millions does it? So capitalism, communism, they’re tools- they can both hurt people or support people. The system isn’t so much the problem as the ethics and greed of the people participating. The fact that some cruel bigots used economics as an excuse to allow suffering and death while they benefited is merely justification. The communists justified their famines too.
