not exactly. an egg for eating isn’t fertilized, so technically it’s the chicken’s period (have fun with THAT mental image). so this example and the OP is using is inaccurate.

Unless you buy free-range eggs in which case they may be fertilised but without being incubated they won't develop into chicks

Uh idk where you're buying eggs but commercial eggs, even free range, shouldn't come from hens with access to roosters. So no dead chick embryos there.

In the UK it must be different because people have successfully incubated and hatched supermarket eggs

Among several errors that the "Folks" in the post make in using the Catholic Church's ordinances as "Truth," they might also notice that fish is permissible on Fridays during lent, and fish are definitely "alive." The "giving up meat" thing is just a small inconvenience that's meant to remind those following it about the actual sacrifice made on their behalf.
