So, I’m not saying children aren’t people or that children shouldn’t have those things but…
If you are not a child… many of those things are in fact rewards. Where they aren’t rewards they are at the very least most often luxuries.
So again, not saying kids shouldn't have those things, just saying that it gets a little sticky when we start to say those things are the basic rights of humanity, since those things aren’t universal as such.
Of course there are some differences between children and adults right? You probably wouldn’t say that legally or morally or is right to conduct oneself exactly as they would with an adult with a child, enter contracts, be responsible for taxes, many other things. So kids are human but they’re also… kids?
The concept of compulsory education already underscores this- you couldn’t legally force an adult to attend school against their will unless perhaps they committed a crime or something. The basic relationship of children in society differentiates them from adults, with few if any examples of societies that do not differentiate between children and adults in rules, responsibilities, and/or social status and consideration.
