Yeah, I don't get the allure of IPA. Just seems like shitty beer to me.

IPA is hopster beer to act pretentious about beer like "wine connaisseurs". "Oh, I get cinnamon, rasberries and emmentaler, with a hint of asparagus!" Wheat beer otoh needs a lemon slice to hide the subtle aroma of vomit when you drink it and is so strongly carbonated, you'll get that very aroma when you have to start belching, which you're gonna. Lager on tap all the way.

Idk, some of it *smells* really really good but tasting it reminds me of drinking the most bitter pith smoothie.

IPA's are best with strong tasting food. The hoppiness and bitter taste can be a little overwhelming all by itself. Just like any beer is an acquired taste when you first start drinking beer, IPA's are an acquired taste even amongst regular beer drinkers. I prefer Guinness or pilsners as a session beer but will often order an IPA in restaurants.
