It's really not though. Just a cursory google will give you scads of studies/reports on what happened based on the surrounding evidence. Granted, there is nothing that comes right out and say "this is exactly what happened and here's a first hand account" but you generally don't get that with history that far back.

Lol. Came for the same. Won’t do the whole thing with the entire story. Long story short they literally left a note and what evidence we have suggests they then did exactly what would seem most logical to do.
