I remember seeing one episode of futurama in which they tell us that the golden rule of cartoons is that everything needs to be back to normal at the end of the episode, and then show robot Nixon burning down the city, haha.
My condolences on the outcome of your recent election. But did you know, that if your ancestors fled from Germany, Austria, Lithuana or Hungary from the Nazi's between 1933 and 1945, your are eligible for citizenship today!
Well I must say I admire your outlook. In the end, I think Europe will be affected if we lose the millitary support we get from the us, if Trump sticks with his ideas.
I agree. My family voted for trump for one reason, but from other people's stand point outside of the country, I can totally see why people wouldn't want him controlling americas military, bc he doesn't seem the most level headed.
Haha my relatives almost voted for Clinton because they were afraid that if trump got ahold of the military, he would send them off to places that weren't well though of or wage unnesacary war, bc my brother and possible me too are going into the army.
I see. So you get a scholarship while attending both college and ROTC then? In the Netherlands college used to be free, but with the economic trouble in 2012 they decided to revoke it, but you can take a loan with 0% interest
Hopefully I'll get a scholarship for classes through rotc, to
Cover the cost. My brother was very smart and got a room and board scholarship but they are rare to get around here. And yes the rotc is based at a college, which wouldn't be the one I was attending but it's within 5 minutes.
Depends, a more pricey one is Lehigh University which is like $60,000 per year, but a more reasonable one is $25,000 per year. What are the ones near you?
Oh my gosh!!! Thats what my dad paid when he was in college in 1980!! Yeah so what's that 8000 for your whole college education? That's less than one full year here
Yeah, and get this, in Germany and Scotland, college is actually free. No tuition fees, you just gotta pay for books. Hell, if it's that much you'd probably better off studying abroad.
Hoesntly probably! Except that it would be hard to get used to being in a different culture/language/country. Lol. That's why I'm working as much as I can now because I have to save. Wait listen to this. Some kids have their whole colleges payed for by their parents here!!!
crazy. Most people only invest that much money in a house here. If you went to Scotland, you wouldn't even have to learn a new language. (Just learn to understand the dialect, which is a bit of a challenge haha) If your grades are decent I'm sure you could find a college to accept you. Small scale colleges are always happy to accept exchange students to promote their 'international ties', so to speak.
Haha true but I would probably have to invest in visiting colleges and stuff and my family is pretty frugal with money bc we have 8 kids most likely going to college so they can't really dish out plane fare left and right. I really wish we weren't born here, are you already out of college?
No, I'm in my second year now. Life is pretty good here in the Netherlands, but I really don't like the direction it's going with the current politics here. Is it a lot harder to travel out of the US? If I want, I can ride a train to the border and visit Belgium.
Oh so you aren't too old then. Why what's going on with the politics there? Well it's not too hard you just need to get a passport wich is like 400 dollars, but my friends all went to Poland for world youth day so it wasn't too hard.
I see. Jesus christ, 400 dollars is a lot of money. It's about €60 here. More or less the same what's going on in the US. We have this guy, Geert Wilders, horribly racist, makes us all look bad. But he's doing well in the polls so I'm not really liking where that is going. I'm 19, how old are you?
Wow I don't know why everything is so expensive here. But the price of college has risen unproportionately high compared to actual inflation. Oh geez that's terrible. I don't know how people like that even get into politics. Oh I'm 17
Because the masses are stupid. I guess it has risen, I'm not sure why it's so cheap here in the Netherlands. Probably government regulation, but I don't know the specifics of it. We used to be very socialist before the crisis in 2012.
We had to bail-out Greek banks in 2012 by loaning them billions of euro's we'll likely never see returned. We had to rework our entire budget, which is mostly invested in healthcare and education.
Because Greece, as well as we are and many other countries, are members of the EU, we are bound by law to do so. The most money came from Germany I believe.
