They're fine and fuck well in their natural environment. It's just that they don't have much of their natural environment left. There are lots and lots of creatures that only fuck in one place on Earth, and if you take that place away, they have nowhere to fuck really. Think about salmon that fuck upstream. You block the channel upward or obstruct it in some way, a lot of salmon will just give up on fucking. Which isn't to say all salmon only fuck by returning to where they were first fucked from, but pandas are bears and not all bears eat and fuck in bamboo forests in China. But, there isn't fucking much we can do from where ever the fuck we are. It's just fucking sad really.

Their obsessive food choice literally doesn't actually sustain them resulting in them needing outside help to get the vitamins and what not they need to function and they also resort to licking rocks to get sodium since their food choice doesn't provide that either. It's not about getting them to mate it's that they literally die off even in a habitat fit for them as they don't have the capability to not die off from malnutrition or walking/falling off stuff to their death.
