Explain the logic behind this

Swimming in the rain is awesome, unless there's a chance of lightning

That's the best time to go swimming!

My parents rule for us swimming in the rain is only if it's not thundering or lightning. They said first time we hear thunder or see lightning we have to get out of the pool.

Because swimming is usually associated with hot and sunny weather. The whole point of swimming is to cool off during the heat.
