Dont buy the textbook ever. Get a kindle or something and download the ebooks. With all the shit textbook publishers do in the US to fuck over students I would never even think of actually buying one.

Its cheaper to buy the old editions and then you can sell it once you're done. You can't sell back your Ebooks.

For a lot of classes (at least where I went to school and my major) buying old editions isn't an option due to too much stuff changing between versions. And not being able to sell back ebooks isn't a problem if you don't pay for them.
