Suicide and depression is often overlooked because a lot of people think it's just asking for attention. There's some people who really need help but get accused of being attention whores. In reality they're covered in scars, one slice closer to the end
Attention seeking is attention seeking. The only people who need to know you are ill (if you actually are), are you parents and your doctor. Telling other people does not help lighten the load. Get treatment, get better and get over it. Oh and by the way, recent research found that self-harm in teenage girls is very often unrelated to actual mental illness; it is just a very poor coping mechanism for normal teenage issues. They also found that most self-harmers grow out of it naturally without intervention. Self harming does not automatically mean you are depressed. The rate of self-harm in depressed people is quite low. Suicide is also more common in Bipolar patients and non-depressed people experiencing financial trouble. Get educated before making ridiculous blanket statements that help nobody. The sad fact is that this post will be drowned in a flood of downvotes very soon, so nobody will get to see it.
