I always ♡'ed Pluto, but it really shouldn't have been called a planet to begin with. Were it to be brought in closer into the solar system, it would grow a tail... that's just not proper behavior for a planet.
Pluto lost planet status? Whatevs. Pluto is not only the first of the new Dwarf Planet category, it's also the first KBO. Can't beat that.
im sick of some of those people who decided to not name pluto a planet. its just like people. grown ups can be called people. just like the little kids. what? just because they're little means they don't have the rights to be considerd as people. if not, what are they aliens?
It was done because of the realization that there was no clear cut definition of what a planet was. There was growing talk about adding more planets and some of the objects considered were already "questionable." So, the IAU set about fixing that. Regrettably, with clearly defined criteria for planetary status, Pluto changed from a planet to a dwarf planet and KBO.
