Is this debunking just the thing where the experiment where the term was coined turned out to be flawed that doesn't actually debunk the concept at all because nobody uses the term in the scientific (or pseudo-scientific, if you want to nitpick) sense?

That would be treating them different based on language and the ability to understand them.
Not really comparable.
And that's assuming they're not just literally relieved to be able to understand someone and haven't been treating people differently at all.
