Exactly, in countries where a movie ticket costs what a family earns in a week (no, they don't adjust prices in poor countries) buying or downloading a movie is cheaper and better than going to the theather http://motherboard.vice.com/read/perus-dvd-pirates-are-its-top-culture-dealers

Instead of wasting my money in movie tickets, I could buy some stuff that lasts way longer than ~2hours like clothes or decent food. Also most of the money in the movie industry doesn't come from movie theathers anymore, it comes from DVD sales and pay-per-view.
