Common names for them include black microhylid frog, or less frequently galaxy frog. An extremely rare species, they were thought to have gone extinct but they have been rediscovered in 1997. They are only known to live within three sites in the Western Ghats of south west India. When threatened, they will retract their limbs and arch their back to make themselves harder to swallow. (Some believe the dots on their skin form a star map to the location of Master Luke Bogwalker)

How have I never heard of this??... Maybe because it's a pretty obscure little Netflix series consisting of only 23 episodes, which ran from 2016 to 2018. Created by Trevor Pryce (former defensive lineman for the Denver Broncos) the series revolves around the people of the Amphibilands and their fight for survival. Their main line of defense against outside threats is the magic Veil and the Kulipari, an elite force of poison frogs. The main protagonist is Darel. Though he has no poison, he dreams of joining these legendary warriors. (Worth noting that a large group of frogs is indeed called an army. So there's an army of frogs protecting another army of frogs)

So, I gotta confess. I'm not especially fond of the military. Even so, people who have been scarred, injured or killed in conditions most of us could scarcely begin to imagine deserve recognition. My sympathies go out to their friends and families as well.
