First appearing as the main antagonist in the 1987 game Yume Koujou: Doki Doki Panic, this cunning cutaneous king controls the world of dreams (Muu World) via the Dream Machine he stole from its denizens. A well-known piece of video game trivia is that this game was re-skinned and repackaged as Super Mario Brothers 2 in 1988. Wart is still the final boss, except the dream world is now called Subcon (get it?) and it's Mario's dream. Interestingly he has also appeared in Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (1993) as an NPC.
