That's okay. Basically I'm doing a thing where I match Pokémon to certain users. This one is a black rock, kinda like your username's namesake.

By that logic, why have any laws in the first place? I mean, people are gonna break them anyway.

Can't (certain) airbenders literally fly? Or are we not counting Legend of Korra as canon?

The world's supply of oil is set to run out in about 50 years. I wonder how long the @anthracite supplies will last.

This was such a great little turn-based PRG series. I played the third, fourth and fifth instalments. All of them had something unique to offer, but Heroes III left the greatest mark by far.
It had the most factions (nine, my faves were Tower and Conflux), arguably the the longest campaigns, and probably the most fan content built around it. There was even a fan-made expansion pack called "In the Wake of Gods" which featured numerous mods like new units, new buildings, and new upgrades for your strongest units.
I remember making a Christmas-themed custom map at one point. Its top side was a Xmas tree, and the underground level was up of present islands.
It's always nice when games a fuel the players' imagination...

Many may not believe this, but Pokémon is still going strong. Also, it might come as a surprise, but I myself still enjoy it. I confess I am somewhat of a genwunner. But Pokémon Go has caught me up a little.
So my first exposure to the franchise was actually the German dub (which ran on RTL/KRTL) of the first and second seasons. What little German I know I learned from this dub (and a few others). I remember always mishearing the line "Komm' und schnapp' sie dir" (the translation of "Gotta catch 'em all") as "Come and Snapchat deer." I knew that couldn't possibly be what it was saying, but it was still funny to me.
Still waiting on Gen VI and Greninja in Pokémon Go though...

Yes. Any time people are even remotely nice to me, I either think they're lying, or that they don't know what they're saying because they don't know enough about me, or I get impostor syndrome.

Nostalgiavember Day 14 - Commander Keen 1 comments

Ah, that good ol' MS-DOS feel. The original Commander Keen series had 7 entries in total. Though I only played and finished Episode IV, it still left a big impact. And not just on me, on the video game industry in general. This entry featured an enemy called the Dopefish. It was sort of a meme before memes were even a thing. It was so famous among video game devs back then that it received cameos and mentions in other non-related games (in Jazz Jackrabbit 2 for example, there's a sign that reads "Spaz ate the Dopefish").
As for the game itself, it was pretty challenging. Though the enemies were pretty cartoony, they all killed you in one hit. And though you had a weapon (Neural Stunner) some enemies were immune to it. At least you could jump really high.
A mobile game came out recently featuring Keen's kids. But most fans feel it doesn't really do the OG justice...

If you grew up between the 60's and, well, today it's almost impossible that Scooby-Doo in some form or another wasn't part of your childhood.
The incarnations I'm most familiar with were the original seasons from the 60's and 70's, the New Scooby-Doo Movies (I didn't recognize any of the guest stars at the time, but they were still fun), the one with Scrappy Doo, the Boo Brothers and Ghoul School movies, A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, and Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island.
The latter is considered one of the best in the franchise, and I definitely agree. The animation, the songs, the action, and even the scares were all upped in this one. I remember it was one of the few cartoons/movies that actually scared me as a kid.
Also gotta give props that (most of the time) the source of the mysteries the gang solved weren't supernatural, but man-made...

Nostalgiavember Day 12 - Jazz Jackrabbit 2 comments

Another pretty obscure title, but nonetheless one of my all-time favorites. When it first came out in 1994, it made a pretty big splash due to its rocking soundtrack, fast-paced gameplay and shareware marketing. It even won game of the year in 1995. It also had a Christmas expansion and a lost episode kind of expansion. I remember the final boss (a giant gray Jazz clone) really creeping me out. And the final boss of the lost levels was Zoonik (guess who they were parodying there).
Its sequel, Jazz Jackrabbit 2, featured a new character (Jazz' brother Spaz) more move, more weapons and more items in general. It also had a Christmas and lost levels expansion (which featured a third playable character: Lori).
Nowadays Jazz 1 is abandonware, but that just means you can get it for free. Jazz 2 online multiplayer servers are actually still running even today...
