It’s easy to get emotional about this but jumping straight to unequivocal murder seems like a bit much. 1 in 20 pedophiles are the monsters; the ones we think about and want to kill. The other 19 out of 20 are either lonely and don’t know how to handle it or they’re angry and don’t know how to handle it.
,
Pedophilia isn’t yet linked in any statistically meaningful way with childhood events. It is something else. It’s certainly *not* a sexuality.
,
Also, this is a little point but, to be clear, pedo means “child,” so pedophilia is the uncontrollable sexual attraction to prepubescent children. Ephebophilia is the uncontrollable sexual attraction to teenagers. There are different mechanisms at work that drive someone to one or the other. So, treating one is totally different than treating the other. Both groups are proven to respond exceptionally well to treatment, except any 1 in 20. Recidivism is lower for these types of offenses than everything else but murder.

I didn’t read the part about growing, but that would make perfect sense. Definitely you can train yourself to be happy (or other things) by using those neurological pathways more.

I learned recently that the various structures in our brains aren't similarly sized. Like, some people's speech centers or olfactory bulbs can be 9x bigger than other people's. Our brains aren't even close to being boilerplate nerve bundles like I'd always assumed.

No wonder we're all so different in the way we talk and act and think.

Thanks guys! He’s the best. It’s terrifying, but so far he seems like a pretty chill little dude.

Oliver :) He two months old and he's the best thing ever. He's still doing that initial boot up but he is generally healthy and happy so far.
