Something to think about 10 comments

Yes, and no. Generally, those stories that follow that trope are referring to unintended consequences or those acts done on accident. The other more common bit is the amount of time the change is coming from. It's not 10, 20, or even a 100 years. It's 1, 2 or 300 million years. Oh, and did I mention unintended consequences? Cause that's really important. It's the changes you didn't plan on and are always "worse" that everyone is worried about. No one talks about making small changes that better everything because that's already something people talk about and in truth is rather boring. Anecdotal though it is, the fact that this is the premise of the original post proves my point. And before someone jumps in and says we don't ask yourself how often you've been asked or heard "What can we do to make things better?" Most likely at work, or a business or service you've used.

Crinkle Crankle Wall 6 comments

No, I get that. But as someone who has taken out small walls myself purely by accident I prefer walls with some serious stopping power.

Was he though? Or did he just obliviate the people that did the things and take the credit.

I like the shape and would love to see these. But for myself, while I really like the shape, I'd also like the wall to be vehicle proof in strength. So my wall definitely be more than one brick thick.

Well yeah, you think it's just kids that like to get out of the classroom once in a while? Plus there is the added benefit of them generally not having to do the teaching portion of their jobs just the chaperoning portion.

Maybe it's my age but why is that humiliating? Sure it's an old name reminiscent of the 50's but there's nothing particularly embarrassing about it.

I don't know about saying how long it's been since I last played, but you'd definitely get me to tell you when in my life really played those games. To be honest even at games I was really good at if I played a one off game now I'd probably lose. All of those games take skills that don't stay with you without practice. That being said if I had the chance to play them against other fairly talented people I'd definitely make it a part of my regular schedule.

Being creative is difficult 4 comments

You forgot the "make what you consider junk movies that most people love so you can fund your indie film only released in select theatres that the other creators can then give you awards for while calling the majority of people idiots for not liking, watching, or even hearing about said film".

Scamming children into reading 3 comments
lucky11 · 3 years ago
Yeah, as a kid I'd definitely think I'd of had the better side of that deal. I loved to read and it was not strange for me to read 5-10 books a week. As an adult and having most people I meet or are friends with tell me they struggle to read books, don't at all, or hate reading, I can only think they're missing out on so much.

Banishment with the penalty of death or straight up death is the only practical sentence for severe crimes. What classifies as a severe crime also gets a drastic overhaul. Good news for people that like communism is that at least to start with almost all communities have no choice but to be communes. Downside is that at a certain population size those communes are almost guaranteed to end up a dictatorship.

Male elephants actually have prehensile genitals. Meaning they can use them like another limb. They've been seen using them to scratch, brush off bugs, and many other things. So "relieving them" isn't going to stop them from using their additional limb in public.

Woodrow Wilson, easily the worst president the US has ever had. His legacy is still being felt and fought. So by all means keep the slander coming.

That reminds of a tv show episode. I forget which show, one of those csi or cop dramas, but the victim was smuggling cheese over the Canadian border and got killed because the murderer thought it was something else.

Well there are clocks with 24 numbers for each hour but anyone who makes clocks would quickly realize what a waste of time and resources it is to make one. When it comes to clock making simpler is better. Clockwork is already so complex and has so many points of possible failure that it's best to reduce them as much as possible.

Notice the tail. See how it is kept down and directly behind the cheetah. Cheetahs use the tail as a counterbalance it's how they can make pinpoint turns while maintaining significant speed.

You've got the right idea but a good stiff rug would really help too. It'll help distribute the weight and allow for an easier pick up and carry.

That's why the knot on a hangman's noose is there, to add leverage to the procedure so that the neck brakes. It's also why the knot is supposed to be positioned prior to the drop.
