Actually, in the area where I live, almost everywhere is hiring. There is a major labor shortage.

Usually if you threaten to quit HR or management will try to renegotiate a better deal, but if they shrug their shoulders you are easily replaceable. If you are easily replaceable that's not a 'them' problem, that's a 'you' problem.
