Oh man, you dont even know half of it. There was a period in time when most European empires and North American countries attributed their whole "civilising savages" based on the idea of Social Darwinism. Something which Darwin never meant for his findings to be associated with.
In all reality social darwinism was only preached in Hitlers Germany, as far as i've researched. The other facist nations didn't go near as deep into that rabbit whole.

To what extent are calling it war? Canadians played a role in the Allied intervention in the Russian Civil war (1918). The allied supported white army lost to the red army.

The legality of use of nuclear weapons under international law wasn't specified until 1977 in the Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Convention. You can't convince me the use of the weapons wasn't legal. Morally justified or otherwise is debatable but the legality is not debatable.

The laws surrounding war crimes of that time period Expressed that there needed to be a valid military target in order to bomb the city. I can't look up right now which one is which but 1 was a major army depot in the Southern region of Japan the other was the largest naval hub in Southern Japan. As far as legality goes the bombings were legal as far as the interpretation the law of the time was.

I don't know if historians consider this to be true today but the catholic church recognized Charlemagne and later the HRE (Holy Roman Empire) as the successor state/next Rome.
-
As far as the Ottoman Empire was concerned they proclained they were the successor state to the Romans. They controlled the last vestige of Roman power while also owning most of the territory the Roman empire had once owned.
-
Then you have Czarist Russia. Being as the Byzantines who controlled Constantinople (at the time named Byzantium) were Eastern Orthodox christian. The Czar claimed that with the fall to Muslim invasion that Russia being the largest Eastern Orthodox empire was therefore the 3rd Rome.

For the most part the american people are very cordial. Almost too cordial, as far as Europeans are concerned.
Government is government. No government is without sin nor care about the people they represent/control outside of keeping their power.

American politics has never been very cordial. The difference between today and yesteryear is that with news and social media the division dial has been cranked to 11.

I mean... let's not talk down on other core bands people may be into. They do tend to have meaning but just not in the same way as Christian core. Christian core tends to be uplifting and motivational in the traditional "i will rise above my personal demons" whereas regular core tends to be "fuck any and all athority. I am my own authority." There's some overlap but that's generally been my observation.

The power plays of Europe can largely be summarised as French and German states waring over disagreement and minor inconveniences.

Rome and the United states are barely comparable no matter how much the government tries to tie itself to the Roman ideals, Roman architecture, and Roman longevity.
