I looked up why recently and found two reasons, one was that America stopped exports of food to the UK because we voted in a Labour (left wing) government and the other was because we didn't immediately start importing food from Europe because the situation in what had been Nazi occupied countries was so bad that people were eating their pets and grass just to survive.

I'm glad they can finally be their true selves, good for them.

In the UK fox and Fawkes are pronounced very differently, the o in fox is a short 'o' sound and the aw in Fawkes is a longer 'or' sound.
I've just tried to say both in my terrible impression of an American accent and they do sound more similar then so I guess that makes sense seeing as this is a mainly American site.
