Well guess what, most homeless people are not able to support themselves, usually because they have a long history with mental illnesses, like schizophrenia, to name just one out of MANY. Plus, the government doesn't give a shit about actually HELPING those people to deal with their illnesses, instead just throwing them into a shitty and underfunded asylum with barely any steady or competent faculty. Or if they're lucky, they get pills shoved down their gullet; which often just makes another problem. Homeless people aren't on the streets 'cause they're lazy.
Oh, and these illegal immigrants you mentioned? They just want to not live in fear of getting shot at a moment's notice; often over their beliefs. But, sadly, they find no respite, as that happens here too.
