I think maybe this has happened because nowadays it seems everyone thinks one simple thing or sentence means something a lot bigger, so they can now take (For example) a box, and say that whoever created it created it because they are mentally trapped by something, and so people are now finding many different meanings in the simplest of things.

Our teacher taught us to yell fire because people tend to have a weird fascination with watching fire, and sometimes when kids are playing they'll scream "Help!" when playing tag or something, but its unlikely that they'd yell "Fire!" unless there really was one.

That would make sense, but its changed depending on the word it starts with, everybody or anybody would result in the use of 'He or she'

For some reason beyond me, in that sentence, you would replace 'their' with 'his or her.'
