There's a difference between semantic gender and grammatical gender. I don't think any language that uses grammatically gendered nouns apply any attributes of that gender to the word

True story: an English teacher (not mine) who was at my school in Year 7 was seen at a gay club topless by a former pupil there a few years after he (the teacher) had left. They were both equally surprised to find each other there
