False. You put a giant banana in a pan. Or it is a normal size pan/banana and you are very tiny.

Public & Private transport 11 comments

When I was in France, there was this one town I wanted to go to and it was a few hours away by car or like 2 days by public transport. We rented a car. (But did use public transport for the rest of the trip).

Well that conversation took an unexpected turn. Also, I looked up more information because I was curious. Here it is: He started to leave the area with his boss, but returned. His telegraph office was only 750 ft from the explosion. "You can still see water stains in his wallet at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic today. His watch speaks grimly of the violent forces which descended on Coleman as its crystal and hands are blown away and its back is pounded in as if by hammers." He actually alerted the entire railway, halting trains, and alerting other cities. He left behind a wife and 3 daughters (that broke my heart). He helped stop a runaway train a few years earlier. Wow.

Am I missing something? How did he sacrifice his life? Was the telegraph office close to the explosion?

@catfluff and @antongustavos That is definitely not what I consider a potato pancake. Never would have thought of doing that. To me, a potato pancake is taking left over mashed potatoes, forming it into a pancake shape, and frying it up in a pan so it gets crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Best with cheese/bacons/onions like I said earlier. @jdudkiewicz What do you think?

@purplepumpkin The quick summary: There were a lot of different laws given to Israelites (e.g. Old covenant) that kinda became "null and void" after Jesus. And @brethorien has a point, but there is nothing in the New Testament that goes law-by-law saying what is still relevant and what isn't. However, there are multiple passages that teach that we are under the New Covenant, not the old, suggesting many of those "rules" no longer apply. Side note: @gypsyroselee has a point as well. A lot of times you see anti-Christian posts, they are quoting something that seems bad or ridiculous now and being like "really? you believe this crap?" - but a lot of it makes way more sense with cultural/historical understanding.

Right? Old Covenant no longer applies. We need a meme about an atheist that thinks they found some glaring oversight of Christians, when they really just don't know what they are talking about. Wanna have an intelligent discussion to talk about some of the real issues? Great. But don't say stupid stuff like this because you think you are so much smarter.

A job is better than No job 5 comments

@jokur_and_batmon There are plenty of "feel good" moments you can look up where participants stopped to help someone else. Also, I feel like there is a big different between falling on a track and having a scraped knee or even a broken bone and "sinking" which probably means drowning and possibly death. Also, not all swimmers are in the pools at the same time, so I would assume there would be other Olympic swimmers around that could help without the participants in the race stopping. Anyway, I understand why they have to have lifeguards, so I don't know why I writing so much about this.

In which case they are surrounded by other Olympic swimmers, probably stronger and faster than the lifeguards. (Just playing devil's advocate, not saying lifeguards are unnecessary).

Just watched this again last night. When called Iron Man, he says "I mean it's not technically accurate. The suit's a gold titanium alloy, but it's kind of provocative, the imagery anyway."
