i enjoyed Last Week Tonight for a while, but his biases become obvious at some point. I enjoy shows that skewer all sides, not just the ones with whom the host or writers disagree with politically.

I don't know her politics, specifically, but what I often see is someone simultaneously having the opinions that:
A. The government is crap, and does a terrible job of running and/or regulating things,
B. We need more government control of things--fuel economy standards, what acceptable wages are, redistribution from the 52% who pay federal income taxes to the 48% who do not, protection from speech which some find offensive...

A few non-tattooed people are judgmental. It seems like someone who gets a face tattoo and then applies for a bank teller job or TV anchorman job doesn't get that they've displayed bad judgment But, the most judgy people are the ones with tattoos that assume that everyone is judging *them*.

Another thing is that the ones getting tattoos to exzpress their individuality are jumping on the trend which everyone else is now doing...how countercultural!

How to properly shoot a lion 24 comments

I see that the animal park where Cecil lived has fallen on hard times becuae of the loss of income due to no hunters going there now. Apparently all those fees and licenses and stuff was the main source of money, and now no hunters want to be vlified and get death threats fo pursuing that activity, even though it's legal. Now all the animals are lacking upkeep, but the "do-gooders" got to feel good about themselves. Too bad they don't step up and foot the bill for lion food and vetrinary care.

Interesting. The negative and critical comments so far are in the "I don't like that you noticed that" category, but they don't take issue with the TRUTH of the statement. So, I guess certain groups aren't allowed to dislike discrimination against themselves, or at least say anything about it.
but don't you like, need that? 33 comments

I have some floppy disks and a Zip disk that I can't read. The problem isn't density or that they didn't last. I just don't have anything that can read a 5.25" floppy or a Zip drive. I picture a couple of these disks...but no drive or whatever to read them.

"Not every 7 yearold is gonna" eat what they thing is candy. What a $#!+ response. Just because ALL children won't do that you think you shouldn't worry about the ones who will? Rule #1 of medicines is to not leave them where children can get them. They might thing they're candy, they might want to "be lkike big sister," or any of many other reasons that children do stupid, illogical and unpredictable things. The sibling already thought that the medicine is something to make you happy, equivalent to skittles. Maybe wen the favorite cartoon character dies, they'll take opne...or two because that makes them really sad.

The Planned Parenthood organization the mom knew no longer exists. Today they sell aborted baby parts. Everything is different. There's no way for people today to support the group that helped the mom in the story many years ago.

1. We hate the Nazis because they forced conformity to their view of Aryan purity and how society should be, screwing the opinions of individuals.
2. We hate them so much that there's supresson and jail time for anyone who even uses a *symbol* of the hated movement.

Great point. This Christian views the WBC as an embarrassment, but the most they do is offend people. If Muslims *truly* view their murderous brethren only as embarrassing, that's actually quite an indictment.

Good for her! That's great that she lost the weight that she wanted.

Plus, it never ceases to amaze me what a professional makeup artist and Photoshop can do.

Wear whatever you want, just quit bitching about how "society" or the patriarchy" forces you to do it.

Also, mind how much makeup you wear to the protest against using animals in research and testing, if you're buying and therefore supporting the products that use animals in testing.

Problem: The "other men"referred to in Islam applies only to other Muslims. For infidels, anything is OK, including rape, pedophilia, and slavery. Look it up. You may not like this information, but that doesn't make it wrong.

You know who I've found to be super judgmental? People with lots of tattoos. I don't give a $#!+ about their ink, but because I don't have any, several of them decided I must be judgmental about *them* without me even making a comment.

I found that really surprizing, since they're the ones who claim to be on the bad side of overjudgmental people.

In Scandanavia they don't have majors like Minority Studies or Women's Issues in Media. Also, two people HAVE to work and they tend to live in tiny apartments for many years to overcome the taxation and high cost of living. In the U.S., many couples can decide to own a home and have one spouse stay home with the kids...they have to drive used cars and go on modest vacations, but it's possible.

For those that love regulating everything, note that anyone providing food to people needs to meet certain sanitary laws/rules/requireemnts: Stainless steel food prep surfaces (not formica or wood or marble), hairnets worn by food prep personnel, etc. There are all sorts of hoops that evwen a philanthropist has to jump through to do things for free. One guy got in trouble for compensating the homeless with food for sweeping up the shelter or helping with some repairs because he wasn't paying them minimum wage. So now they have neither the minimum wage OR the food.

1. Major in something that pays better than minimum wage.
2. Go somewhere other than Yale. There are decent community colleges...you have to live without sports teams and some other things, but if that's mandatory for your college experience, realize you have to pay for it.
3. You have to pay for food and a place to live whether you're in college or not. So including room and board is an expense you have either way.
4. There are so many more opportunities now than years ago...distance learning, online study, etc. I *wish* I could be college age now vs. way back when I earned a degree.
