As cute and wobbly and flubbery as they are, overweight cats (and all animals) typically have a shortened, lower-quality life due to their high risk for health problems.
How to keep track of a turtle 7 comments

I believe that's a cute little turtle. The shell is too flat. And look at those adorable teeny feetsies! They're more like flippers, as they are flat and clawed, and extend horizontally instead of vertically.

Is this a green mamba? I've never heard the term "boomslang," (other than HP, of course) and I like it!

Friendly reminder that just because someone has it worse than you, does not mean that your struggles are not valid.

My cat's name is Samwise because he is my favorite literary character. (:

"It's their fault for taking the nudes; things get leaked all the time, they should have expected this and just not taken them in the first place!"
How is that any different from: "It's their fault for dressing like that; rape happens all the time, they should have expected this and just not left home in the first place!"
It's not different. It's victim-blaming, and it's wrong. People can do whatever they want with their bodies - they can pierce them, tattoo them, take pictures of them, whatever - and should have nothing to worry about. It's the disgusting people who hack things like this who are to blame. Please don't perpetuate this way of thinking. No one should feel ashamed of their body.

My three-legged baby Samwise does the same thing! (And yes, I almost named him Augustus.) He always looks so grateful when I scratch the part of his neck he can't reach. I love three-legged kitty. Isaac is adorable!

Putting dogs in cold environments when they're overheated can make their bodies go into shock from their temperature changing too fast, and this can be fatal. Be careful!

Baby bats can be cute too 7 comments
guest · 9 years ago
Bats are very, very commonly carriers of rabies. And due to their incredibly sharp teeth, most people do not feel or notice a bite. For this reason, all bats that are handled without gloves must be euthanized so they can be tested for rabies. For your safety and theirs, please wear gloves in the future (like leather, welding, or ski gloves - not latex). Thank you for rescuing these babies!!

While it probably can be, this isn't always true. Cats, like most animals, don't have sweat glands, so when they exert themselves and get overheated, they have to pant to cool off, just like dogs do. That is far more common. I'm terribly sorry for your loss, though.

Trying to help a little fox 57 comments

For future reference, all wild animals should be transported in cages or boxes if possible. They get stressed out, not comforted, by human contact and should be kept in a dark, quiet place until help is reached, especially if injured. They are dangerous and unpredictable (all wild animals, not just the big ones). Thank you so much for helping this little guy out! You made the world a better place.
