I like Flash but I've only seen a few episodes of Arrow. My friend really likes Arrow but I just don't have the time and the first few episodes I watched were pretty mediocre so I decided to give it a pass. Speaking of series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is totally mediocre imo but nobody bashes it as much as they bash DC's series. Why?
Still, only knowing live action series and movies is far from having an objective view, DC is generally a lot better at animated stuff and comics while Marvel rocks live action.

You don't see that in Marvel because they're more entertaining but consequently more shallow. And since you say you hated comic books and cartoons about superheroes, I assume you're judging solely by the movies, which means you have about 5% of the actual knowledge about the universes. Therefore, whatever I say will fall on deaf ears because you don't know what I'm talking about and are proud of that ignorance because you have "standards".
Edit: I'd also like to add that Marvel produces movies like a friggin factory so the really bad ones get lost among the good/mediocre ones. Funny that everybody always mentions BvS and Suicide Squad but if you mention the newer Fantastic Four movie or the last X-men movie they pretend you didn't say anything or get super triggered.

It's pretty ironic that you say this even though DC usually has better character psychology.
Now I'm no fanboy, I like both and I'm totally willing to admit that the last few DC movies were crap, but Marvel is usually just pure entertainment while DC has a few scoops of psychological analysis and even existentialism added to that. Sure, Marvel has some emotional scenes as well like when Black Widow talked about her training, but they never ever mention the psychological trauma of being a hero, Marvel heroes are just happy-go-lucky serial killers. What I like about DC is that they show the responsibility Superman has on his shoulders, or the fact that despite Batman being a vigilante fanatic, he has a deep moral code of no killing and he often struggles with his nature, or Deathstroke's sense of honor despite him being a merc, or even Joker's complex and chaotic mind and his relationship with Harley whom he abuses, psychologically and physically.
