Froggy chair
Froggy hat
Froggy pendant
And now froggy phone!
Frogs are fashion icons.

This year the Easter bunny brought me a basked filled with the last sentence with the word of god and also a bunch of pigeons that were painted to look like a medieval slave or something.

That's an interesting idea, it's true that people handle authority very differently. Some are fine, some turn into horrible dictators, and it'd be good to find that out about people before giving them a position of power. But I'm curious, what do you mean by measuring it though? How would we do it? Like a Stanford Prison Experiment kind of scenario?

I see. Yeah, we're definitely on the same page here. If a company does something wrong, the last thing I'd do is yell at an employee who had nothing to do with it. Customer service/retail workers are mostly underpaid and overworked/overstressed as it is so I wouldn't want to add to that.
I don't have kids but I understand that sometimes motherly instinct just kicks in, so going full mama bear if someone's being an asshole to your kid, well it's just something you gotta do sometimes.

Okay, yeah that sounds like a horrible teacher. Sorry for the confusion, your previous comment made it sound like you got her fired for the name thing but it's clear there was a lot of bad shit from her already and it's good she's nowhere near your kid (or hopefully any kids) now.

Uhhhh hate to break it to ya but that sounds like you were a total Karen in that situation. It's really petty and mean-spirited to laugh at her losing her job over her calling you by your first name too. Such a small thing to lose your livelihood over. If she was a bad teacher and that led to both you pulling your kid out of her class and subsequently her getting fired, that's one thing, and of course I don't have all the details so I can't really make a judgment. But the way you're telling it, having someone fired just over such a petty dispute... oof. I feel bad for her, and I really don't think you should be laughing at this. I don't blame anyone for losing their temper at a Karen.
I'd honestly rather be told something mean to my face and be able to talk it out than have the person immediately run to my boss and demand they fire me. Talk it out like equals instead of whining to the person in power, y'know?

The idea used to be that anyone who reaches old age must be a badass to survive in a tough world. But nowadays with modern medicine and with today's lifestyle, any stupid asshole can grow old, and many indeed do. So no I don't think I should give extra respect to every old person, some of them are cunts who think their age means they get special treatment, so they skip lines, take up two seats on a bus and are rude to young people for the most minor stuff. Seriously, I've seen so many old people harass and insult kids for literally just standing there, waiting for the bus. I've seen an old woman demand that a young woman give up her seat, and when she DARED say there are plenty of seats left (the tram was like 20% full), the old woman said "NO I WANT THAT SEAT" and went on a tirade about disrespectful young people, and many other examples. So yeah, nowadays every asshole can grow old, so I won't give them extra respect by default. As I said before though, basic courtesy still applies.

Sounds like she's an absolutely horrible person but also like a total outlier case and I don't think you can use her as an example of people who say "respect is earned not given". Tbh it sounds like she doesn't respect anyone, period. Your example of walking up to someone and being a dick to them is not a good representation of what the concept means imo.
I also think respect is earned not given but I'd never disrespect anyone to their face. In fact my 'default' setting is to be nice to people unless they show me they deserve to be treated otherwise. That said I don't think every old person is worthy of respect, and by respect I mean venerated treatment or special treatment, I don't mean basic courtesy and politeness because as I said that's pretty much my default setting.

I love white chocolate, sorry not sorry
It has cocoa butter in it so it technically is chocolate. It just doesn't have cocoa solids.

Thanks for this useful post! I make my own softener out of equal parts vinegar and water plus about a teaspoon or two of baking soda and a few drops of essential oil. Works pretty well. Haven't tried making my own detergent yet but I bought some Aleppo soap flakes recently so I might as well give it a go.
