Except you'd see the deer before looking at the picture because of the flash

In the moon light you'd probably see the eyes looking at you from every angle and hear them breathing as the leaves rustle under their hooves and more than likely you'd feel the presence of a group of beings around you before you ever snapped the picture... Unless you already had a flashlight

This whole thing wouldn't happen, in order to take a picture the camera had to have light, which means you'd see the deer as soon as the camera flashed...

This has happened to me before, almost. I opened my front door one night and five deer (that I counted, including a buck with huge antlers) all looked me directly in the eyes. None of them moved. I backed into the house and slowly shut the door and through the window, I saw them all continue grazing as though I never did a thing.
