There sure as he'll won't be anyone in it that doesn't have the best interests for their country in mind! Now days politicians are all about monetary gain and power
... Except for the fact that they went to college to get a degree in something that caused them to get elected. Minimum wage is for the people who either can't or won't go to college and to ensure they still have a way of making enough money to live.
Agreed. But don't pay them much more than the average population makes, because then they are making big financial/ tax decisions that affect everyone but them and others in their class.
If I may, my uncle has a Bachelor's degree, and he's still earning minimum wage. Why? Because there are no jobs at all where he is. And because he's making minimum wage, he can't afford to move, either.
I agree with you jjohnson in the fact that they shouldn't be paid much more than the average population, but one reason they make so much is cost of living in DC is high, granted not many of them live in DC, but when the constitution was created they had to live there and for the most part Congressmen just adjust for Cost of Lving and Inflation (they do It a lot lol).
"I'm poor and lazy and don't want to work but I'm pissed because somebody who has spent their whole lives working their way up and doing everything they can are making a lot of money, so let's make them pay all my taxes because I'm too fucking lazy." How about you get off your ass, get a job, and stop whining because someone else is more successful than you. I bet if you were making three figures a year you wouldn't think it's fair you have to pay for the lazy people. You're the ones who elected the politicians so maybe you should vote for the right people America.
If you don't like that you went to school and got a degree but are still making minimum wage. How about you did a better job. "I can't find another job," is a terrible excuse. And raising the minimum wage is a bad bad idea. If they do that, then companies are going to have to start charging even more because they don't have enough money because a few people flipping burgers demanded they make $15/hr. Find a new job.
Once upon a time, all of the sleeping people in all of the land......Woke Up!! Until that sweet, sweet day just keep taking the Blue Pill. Shhhh, it's alright, just go back to sleep. After you vote of course.
Politics is a perpetual motion machine of apathy. Democrats vote Democratic, Republicans vote Republicans, and Libertarians are terrible people. People only care about issues so far as they can get outraged by them.
As someone who is college educated, even with my MEDICAL degree, it sucks at how little I'm paid. If you've never had to live off minimum wage, count yourself lucky. Someone has to work serve you at a restaurant. Someone has to ring you up at the grocery store. Someone has to pick the food you eat. Someone has to make the clothes you wear. An education and experience do warrant a higher wage. But even those at the bottom deserve a working wage they can live off if and support their families. It's not about greed. It's about working full time and still not being able to pay rent or put food in the table. A higher minimum wage would mean fewer on government assistance.
Most politicians come from rich families who have lots of excess. The point is that they don't understand those who are forced to go without. Poverty is inherited, and so is wealth. And in America, wealth is power. Wealth is what drives politics, not humanitarian ideals.
No, they would just raise minimum wage which will drive up costs everywhere. Make their salary the current median household income. That way, they will make laws that improve the economy and raise the median income.
You forget that politicians went to collage and worked hard to be where they are. Even if you disagree with they're polices they still have to pay that debt and make a living.
