Given the text at the top, over Minnesota, the Dakota and Wisconsin... I doubt the veracity of this.
I would think that an Australian native would know with certainty how many state they have.
.
Besides, is it a reasonable expectation to learn states and territories in international geography?
Yeah, the fact that he says 6 or 7 is because we have 6 states but an extra one is counted just for the capital because they couldn't decide which state to put it in. So we have Western Australia, Northern Territory, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales and ACT (Australian Capital Territory) :)
I'm Spanish and Australian, it's just so you have an idea of what's going on, it's tricky geography...
Fair play...
I just wasn't to sure, being a victim of the public school system in the US. I think my school was a little better compared to some of the stories I've heard... but 50 states and their capitols was tough as a kid. Internationaly, the only one I can really recall is Canada's Provinces and Territories. Though, I had a high school English teacher that covered some Japanese geography with us.
I completely understand. It took me a while to learn the Australian ones and I know more about the Spanish now than when I lived there :)
I aas homeschooled for a while and mom got us to learn the countries abd capitals of most of the world. It was may beyond anything we learnt at school. School education has really declined, I find, so I get what you mean
