I'm a well-read Christian, as well, but like sir guest said, it has more to do with certain groups of Christians making the Bible out to be the be-all, end-all of books. You know, to the point that learning all of the scientific knowledge we're lucky enough to have now is bad for our children because it often contradicts the Bible (something the Bible does to itself quite often, if you like a bit more irony with your irony).
The post didn't really implied that christians dont read, just that they have one "ultimate"(?) book. Any one can be smart, or a poet, regardless religion
Speaking of irony, many of today's Christians (at least the ones so bat-shit the news just can't resist giving them a platform) don't realize how hilariously ignorant it is when they claim the world is out to get them, when history is chock full of death and destruction in the name of God.

That is the past and not the present. If you look back in history, you will see all of the horrible acts done by atheist leaders to get rid of religion. If you compare the evil of both sides, the atheist one is much worse.
Even if that is true, and don't get me wrong, I'm patiently awaiting proof, that doesn't take away what Christianity and other religions have done, nor their hypocrisy is playing the martyr. And how convenient you'd want to ignore historical fact at the same time. Quite the debater, you are.

The "historical fact" is that people only blame religion for the world's problems and not themselves. Also, the body count of the genocides and persecution of religious people during the past century is much higher than the Inquisition and Crusades combined.
Nande12, about your first comment. Men well quibble over religion (or a lack thereof) regardless of specific faith. You have to look at the men behind the deeds, and not what they do them for.
The comparison you are all making between Atheists and Christians is pointing to two venomous snakes and expecting one to give you preferential treatment. There are the Atheists who simply believe there is no God, and the Christians who believe in faith that there is a God. Then we have people who go out of the way to look like utter bastards as they shame and ridicule each other. There have been plenty good and bad Atheists and Christians. One priest even helped Einstein in his work, and his research helped make the A-bomb. If an Atheist does a good thing and doesn't trumpet about how he didn't need God to do it, then fine. If a Christian does a good thing, and doesn't post and exclaim how God did everything , then fine. The whole issue is between proof. We as a whole believe something happened to make this world be. If we looked at that and accepted we have different standpoints, there would be less contention and bickering about who is right and wrong.
...yep, Christian!
